⸺APIFIX⸺
Treatment option for juvenile idiopathic scoliosis
ApiFix® is dedicated to helping patients with adolescent idiopathic scoliosis (AIS) and their families make informed decisions about treatment options in collaboration with their orthopedist.

Closing a treatment gap
A corset treatment is not always sufficient. A fusion operation is forever. The ApiFix® procedure offers selected adolescent idiopathic scoliosis (AIS) patients a less invasive, motion-preserving option to achieve curve correction without the finality of spinal fusion.
Simple approach, faster recovery
Because the ApiFix system is implanted on only one side of the spine via a posterior access, it is less invasive than spinal fusion surgery (SFS) and other non-fusion procedures that typically require a more complex, anterior access. This difference can lead to a faster recovery time. Patients are typically discharged from the hospital after 2-4 days and return to school within 2 weeks of the ApiFix.

The Internal Brace Option™
At the heart of the ApiFix system is the self-adjusting rod that acts as an internal support to straighten the spine. The rod design features two polyaxial joints that allow for a greater degree of mobility compared to spinal fusion surgery (SFS).
Predictable correction
Most of the curve correction is achieved during the first procedure. The self-adjusting rod allows for additional postoperative correction over time and can support further growth. This provides the opportunity to treat young patients who are still growing.

A long-term clinical track record
The safety and probable benefit of the ApiFix procedure has been demonstrated through more than 800 procedures* and over 10 years of clinical experience. The procedure and system have been optimized during this time, resulting in steadily improved outcomes for patients with progressive juvenile idiopathic scoliosis.
A Food and Drug Administration (FDA) approval study has been underway in the U.S. since 2021. The results published so far confirm the findings of the last 10 years at Sana Trinity Hospital in Cologne.
